Pennicott Wilderness Journeys To Showcase The Best Of Everything In Wilsons Promontory

01 April 2016

One of Australia’s leading tourism operators will open shop in Victoria, giving visitors to Wilsons Promontory a rare taste of Victoria’s great natural strengths.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren today joined Pennicott Wilderness Journeys managing director Robert Pennicott on the shores where the unique cruises will soon depart, showcasing the best of everything Gippsland offers from the water.

The $3.5 million venture is Pennicott Wilderness Journeys’ first venture outside Tasmania, and will attract new streams of visitors to the thriving holiday hotspot.

The 100 per cent carbon offset cruises will offer visitors a chance to experience the region’s world-class environment and fauna from the water. Pennicott Wilderness Journeys will partner with nearby transport operators and small businesses to develop regional travel itineraries for visitors for Melbourne.

Pennicott Wilderness Journeys is one of Australia’s most decorated tourism operators. The Tasmanian-based family-run company has won 11 Australian Tourism Awards, and has been judged Tasmania’s Best Tourism Attraction seven years in a row.

Wilsons Promontory is among Victoria’s most cherished destinations, boasting spectacular scenery of granite mountains, rainforests and sweeping beaches and coastlines.

The Pennicott Wilderness Journeys experience will make the region even more attractive to visitors from all over Victoria, Australia and the world – and that means a stronger local economy.

The Labor Government is working hard to grow the state’s regional visitor economy, because it means jobs for locals and a stronger state.
