Partnership Signals Good News For Medical Research

27 March 2015

Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Adem Somyurek, today welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Biomedical Research Victoria (BioMedVic) and Osaka University’s Graduate School of Medicine.

Mr Somyurek said the collaborative agreement would facilitate joint medical research endeavours and provide a framework for Victorian researchers and organisations to engage with Osaka University in the field of health and medical research.

The MoU will also pave the way for the exchange of selected life science experts to attend forthcoming events in Melbourne and Osaka including AusMedTech 2015 in April, AusBiotech 2015 and Australia Biotech Invest in October and the Medical Japan exhibition next year.

The agreement follows a number of successful health and trade missions to Melbourne’s Japanese sister city, Osaka.

The Andrews Labor Government-supported trade mission enabled delegates to attend the Medical Japan 2015 conference, the World Medical Forum, government-to-government meetings in Tokyo and meetings with academics and business leaders.
