Minister for Training and Skills, Steve Herbert has today joined the Uruguayan Ambassador to Australia to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Deakin University and Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Mr Herbert said today’s event was an important step in a long-term engagement plan between Victoria and key Latin American countries such as Uruguay.
This MOU will see Deakin and Universidad ORT Uruguay collaborate in research, teaching and learning, as well as student and staff exchange. Deakin University also intend to explore other collaborative options, to boost their international student numbers.

International education is one of the six future industry sectors, identified as a key driver for future jobs in Victoria.
The state attracts more than 160,000 international student enrolments each year. International education generated $5.3 billion in export earnings in 2014 and supports over 30,000 jobs making it Victoria’s largest single export sector.
