Orange Door On Track For Western Melbourne

26 May 2021

The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring more Victorian families can access assistance for family violence and child wellbeing, with a major step towards bringing The Orange Door network to Western Melbourne.

Minister for Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams today announced the lease has been signed for the Orange Door Network in Western Melbourne, with a brand new site in Werribee. The Werribee site will be supported by additional locations, including access points, outposted services and outreach services.

The $448 million Orange Door network is an Australian-first initiative that has helped more than 140,000 people, including more than 55,000 children, since it began – bringing together workers from specialist family violence, child and family, Aboriginal and men’s services.

The network is currently operating in eight regions across the state, including the Central Highlands, Loddon, Barwon, Inner Gippsland, North East Melbourne, Bayside Peninsula, Mallee and Goulburn – and the remaining nine will be open by the end of next year.

It’s part of the Labor Government’s record more than $3 billion investment to address gendered violence following the Royal Commission into Family Violence.

There have been more than 140,000 referrals to the Orange Door network since 2018. More information is available at orangedoor.vic.gov.auExternal Link .
