One-Stop-Shop Community Hub For Cranbourne Families

30 August 2018

Families in Cranbourne East will find it easier to access the services they need, with the opening of a new hub bringing together kinder, playgroups and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services under a single roof.

Minister for Early Childhood Education Jenny Mikakos today visited the Livingstone Family and Community Centre to officially open the $5.7 million facility, which was built with the help of the Andrews Labor Government.

The new centre includes three kindergarten rooms, two MCH consulting rooms, an internet café, a mini sports oval for children and community spaces such as meeting rooms, an outdoor courtyard and a kitchen for hire.

The centre will be able to cater for 135 kindergarten places, with families able to access MCH services, playgroups, parenting programs, early childhood intervention services and other family services.

The Labor Government provided the City of Casey $1.6 million for the centre through a Children’s Facilities Capital Program major grant, with the remainder of the funding provided by the Council.

The Government is investing a record $123.6 million to build, expand and improve early years infrastructure across Victoria to ensure local families can continue to access great local kindergartens.

It has led to an additional 8,250 kindergarten places and hundreds of new and revamped early learning facilities and playgroups since 2014.

Cranbourne families are also benefitting from the Government’s $202.1 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan, which provides strong support in early childhood so kids are ready for kinder, ready for school and ready for life.
