Nominations Sought For Barwon Coastal Committees

01 March 2016

Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Lisa Neville is calling for expressions of interest for positions on the Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management (BBFCOM), Barwon Coast Committee of Management (BCCOM) and the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC).

The positions on these committees provide an opportunity for qualified and experienced people to contribute and provide advice on managing Victoria’s coastal areas.

Expressions of interest are being sought for the following positions:

  • GORCC – up to nine members for positions expiring 30 June 2016. The committee manages 37 kilometres of coastline adjoining Surf Coast townships including Torquay, Anglesea and Lorne.
  • BCCOM – three members for positions expiring 30 June 2016. The committee manages 13 kilometres of coastline between Ocean Grove and Thirteenth Beach.
  • BBFCOM – up to nine members for positions expiring 15 August 2016. The committee manages 17 kilometres of coastline between St Leonards and Portarlington.

The recruitment process for all committees, which will be consistent with the Andrews Labor Government’s focus on diversity, will be undertaken simultaneously to allow candidates who apply for a position on multiple committees to be recommended and appointed to the committee that requires a specific set of skills.

The skills and experience required include connection within local communities, engagement, engineering leadership, financial management, legal skills, open space management and environmental knowledge.

Applicants are required to register an account on the ‘Get On Board’ website prior to applying online at vacancies.publicboards.vic.gov.au. Expressions of interest close 5pm Sunday, 20 March 2016.

For more information contact the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning’s Anglesea office on (03) 5320 2012.
