No Waiting List For Mornington Kindergarten

22 April 2015

Minister for Families and Children, Jenny Mikakos, today joined Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Bev Colomb and Member for Eastern Victoria, Daniel Mulino, to open the upgrade to Bentons Square Kindergarten in Mornington.

The $1 million upgrade provides a new kinder room and outdoor play area, allowing the service to double its three-year-old program, offer an extra 28 children places in four-year-old kindergarten and cut its waiting list to zero.

Ms Mikakos congratulated the centre’s operator Community Kinders Plus and the Mornington community for their support for this much-needed local project.

Infrastructure projects such as these ensure local children’s services have the space and flexibility they need to provide 15 hours of kindergarten per week alongside a range of other quality early years programs.

The Andrews Labor Government continues to call on the Abbott Government to provide ongoing funding for 15 hours of kindergarten, and end the uncertainty affecting kindergartens and communities across the state.
