Business leader and digital transformation expert Janet Matton has been appointed president of the board of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).

Ms Matton brings a wealth of expertise in complex business management and global operations to the helm of Australia’s national museum of film, TV, videogames and digital culture.

With more than 20 years of senior corporate experience across multiple disciplines including finance, HR, strategy and IT, Ms Matton also has broad international experience having spent 12 years working in the US, UK, Europe, Japan and China.

Prior to her current roles she was the vice-president/head of operations for IBM in Australia and New Zealand, overseeing the company’s widespread and robust management systems.

Ms Matton’s passion for women in business and her experience in digital transformation won her the 2010 Victorian Telstra Business Woman of the Year award.

Starting in the role on 1 July 2019, she succeeds Peter Lewinsky who has served as president since 2014 and on the board for nine years. Also retiring are long-standing board members Michael Wachtel and Jan Chapman AO.

Managing-director of Blackfella Films and award-winning producer Darren Dale also joins the board. Dale has worked on acclaimed projects including First Australians, Redfern Now and Deep Water: The Real Story.

With the support of the Andrews Labor Government, ACMI’s Federation Square museum is currently undergoing a transformational $40 million renewal and is set to reopen in mid-2020.
