Families in Clayton South now have access to a one-stop children’s hub bringing together kindergarten, school and community health services at the new Westall Community Hub.
Minister for Early Childhood Education Jenny Mikakos today officially opened the $8 million new integrated community centre, which is located on the same site as Westall Primary School and Westall Secondary College.
The one-shop-stop for family services includes rooms for three and four-year-old kindergarten programs, supported playgroup and Maternal and Child Health services.
Co-locating the early childhood facilities on school sites means drop-off time will be easier for parents of multiple children, while also providing greater support for children in their transition from kindergarten to school.
The Government contributed $1.6 million to the project, which also includes a public library branch with a digital focus, community kitchen, community health and support services and multipurpose rooms for community use.
The Andrews Labor Government is delivering a record $70 million to build, expand and upgrade kinders across Victoria to ensure local families can continue to access great local kindergartens.
Local families will also benefit from the Labor Government’s $202.1 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan.
This ground-breaking plan recognises the importance of providing families with strong support in early childhood, so kids are ready for kinder and ready for school.
It will mean parents can access improved parenting support and MCH services, as well as higher quality and more inclusive kindergartens.
