New Innovation Space Open At South West TAFE

13 March 2020

Entrepreneurs and students in Warrnambool now have access to a new tech-enabled, collaborative working space at South West TAFE thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Training and Skills and Minister for Higher Education Gayle Tierney today opened The Hive Entrepreneurial Incubator Space — a new co-working space on South West TAFE’s Warrnambool campus where local businesses and entrepreneurs can connect and work with local students.

The Labor Government contributed $440,000 to develop the Hive which includes a podcast studio, Wi-Fi, a meeting room, collaboration space, mail facilities and function space.

During the visit, community members had their say on what they would like to see in the new South West TAFE Learning and Library Hub.

The new hub in the heart of Warrnambool will be open to the community and include public computers, exhibition and display areas, places to study, meeting rooms, and a games and digital media zone.

The Government is contributing more than $17 million to the $20.25 million project, delivered in partnership with the Warrnambool City Council.

Since 2015, the Government has committed more than $1.3 billion to rebuild our TAFE system and ensure students can get the skills they need for the jobs they want.
