New Funding For Facilities To Help Robinvale Kids Learn

02 December 2015

Minister for Education James Merlino today announced $450,000 to help fund Robinvale P-12 College’s transformation into a new school focused on providing excellent P- 12 education.

Visiting Robinvale in northern Victoria, Mr Merlino said the funding would support the school’s new vision for Robinvale, including offering excellent P-12 education as part of an inclusive community learning hub.

The new school and community learning hub will offer:

  • a new vision to inspire ‘great learning for a thriving community’
  • an on-site early learning centre
  • parent and family support services
  • deeper industry partnerships to provide future opportunities for school leavers and members of the broader community
  • more ways for parents and carers, family members and friends to get actively involved.

The additional $450,000 in funding will help build a new main administration building that will be shared by the school and the new early learning centre.

Robinvale P-12 College will also receive $955,878 in equity funding in 2016, an increase of $528,861 from this year.

The Andrews Labor Government has invested almost $4 billion in Victoria’s education and skills system through the 2015-16 State Budget – representing the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria’s history.

This includes a record $730 million investment that will ensure every community has access to a great local school, and every child gets the chance to succeed, and $325 million to renovate, refurbish or rebuild 83 schools.

Robinvale College was formed in 2010 by the merger of Robinvale Consolidated School and Robinvale Secondary College. In 2015 there were 412 students enrolled at the school.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Education, James Merlino:

“I’m pleased to announce $450,000 in additional Labor Government funding. This will construct a main administration building, to bring the college together and fulfil its vision of great learning for a thriving community.”

“Robinvale College is a prime example of a school-community partnership that is giving students the lessons and opportunities that they need to be their best.”
