Minister for Families and Children, Jenny Mikakos, today joined Maroondah City Council Mayor Tony Dib and Member for Eastern Metropolitan, Shaun Leane, to open the new Norwood Family and Children’s Centre.
The $2.88 million centre gives families access to a range of children’s services in one convenient location.
Local families and children will benefit from high-quality kindergarten programs, maternal and child health (MCH) services and parenting programs, including a breastfeeding service, first time mums’ group and a support program for dads.
Based on the edge of the Ringwood Major Activity Centre, the hub includes three learning spaces as well as two consulting rooms staffed by MCH nurses.
These sorts of infrastructure projects ensure local children’s services have the space and flexibility they need to deliver 15 hours of kindergarten alongside a range of other quality early years programs.
The Andrews Labor Government continues to call on the Abbott Government to provide ongoing funding for 15 hours of kindergarten, and end the uncertainty affecting kindergartens and communities across the state.
