New Chief Fire Officer For CFA

Minister for Emergency Services Jane Garrett has today announced the appointment of new CFA Chief Officer, Joe Buffone.

Mr Buffone has extensive experience in the fire services and has held senior roles at both CFA and Emergency Management Victoria (EMV).

Mr Buffone is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Risk and Resilience for EMV. He has also been a Deputy Chief Officer with the CFA and a Deputy Emergency Services Commissioner for Victoria.

Mr Buffone led a number of strategic activities following the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009 and the Victorian floods in 2010-2011.

He has also been an active CFA volunteer for more than 15 years and is a Level 3 Incident Controller.

Mr Buffone holds a Masters in Business, Graduate Certificate in Disaster Management, Graduate Certificate in Management, and Diploma in Security Management. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

The new Chief will start in November.
