New Chair For Gambling And Liquor Regulator

Minister for Gaming and Liquor Regulation, Jane Garrett, today announced the appointment of Bruce Cohen as the new Chair of the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR).

With a career spanning more than 20 years in public policy, regulatory development and government administration, Mr Cohen is more than qualified to Chair the VCGLR.

As Chair, Mr Cohen will lead the VCGLR with an increased focus on effective compliance action and certainty for industry, local communities and consumers.

In 2013 Bruce Cohen conducted a major review of the institutional arrangements of the ACT government-owned water utility ACTEW Corporation Ltd.

Mr Cohen holds degrees in law and commerce from Melbourne University, as well as a doctorate in public policy from the Australian National University. He has also served as a director on the boards of VENCorp, Snowy Hydro Ltd and VicTrack and is currently a member of the Victorian Bar.

Mr Cohen will take up the role of Chair immediately. The term of the appointment is three years.
