New CEO Announced For Wodonga TAFE

Minister for Training and Skills, Steve Herbert, has announced Mark Dixon will be the next chief executive of Wodonga TAFE.

Mr Herbert said Mr Dixon would bring extensive leadership and a passion for vocational education and training to the institute.

Mr Dixon has more than 30 years’ experience as an officer in the British and Australian Army, having graduated from the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1985, and served in leadership positions around the world, including operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

For the past two years, Mr Dixon has been a Director of the Defence Material Organisation and prior that was Chief of Staff and Commanding Officer at the Army’s Logistic Training Centre in Bandiana.

Mr Dixon has lived in the Albury-Wodonga region with his family since 2005.

Mr Herbert said Mr Dixon would take up his new role in May.

While in Wodonga, Mr Herbert met with regional industry and employer representatives about emerging skills needs and challenges for the region.

The Andrews Labor Government’s $50 million TAFE Back to Work Fund will support public TAFE institutes, like Wodonga TAFE, to develop stronger partnerships with employers and industry and help get Victoria back to work.

Biography

COLONEL MARK DIXON

Mr Dixon graduated from the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1985 and holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Cranfield University. Mr Dixon has spent more than 30 years as both a British and Australian Army officer, serving in a variety of leadership positions all over the world, including operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr Dixon has a strong vocational training and education background, including time as a teacher in the UK and as both Chief of Staff and Commanding Officer at the Army’s Logistic Training Centre in Bandiana. He is a qualified instructor, assessor and training supervisor. For the past two years, he has been a Director, within the Defence Materiel Organisation, responsible for the procurement of equipment and management of the Army’s multi-million dollar equipment fleets.

Mr Dixon is married to Karen, with two teenage children. They have been strong and supportive members of the local Albury-Wodonga community since their arrival from the UK in 2005.
