Passengers catching the train at Gisborne and Riddells Creek stations on the Bendigo Line can soon enjoy improved and expanded car parking.

Works are underway to deliver 100 upgraded car parking spaces at Gisborne Station. The upgraded car park will include four accessible car spaces and 15 bicycle hoops. The car park will be extended from the existing car park on the north side of the tracks and will replace the gravel area currently used for parking.

Passengers travelling from Riddells Creek Station will benefit from 50 new car parking spaces, including three accessible spaces and 10 bicycle hoops. The new parking will be constructed to the east of the existing car park and accessed via Hamilton Street.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council will also be delivering a new footpath to connect the additional parking to the station via road upgrades to Hamilton Street.

Works at both stations include installing lighting and CCTV for the safety of passengers, wayfinding signage, improved pedestrian access and landscaping.

The projects are being delivered by VicTrack as part of the Car Parks for Commuters Program.

Civil construction company Ace Infrastructure is delivering the car parks on behalf of VicTrack, following a competitive tender process. Ace Infrastructure has significant experience in delivering station car parks and is also delivering new and upgraded car parking at North Shore, Kyneton, and Beaufort stations over the coming months.

Since 2014, 14,000 new and upgraded parking spaces have been delivered at metropolitan and regional stations across the state, with almost 7,000 new and upgraded spaces to be delivered.
