Morwell To Map Out Renewable Energy Jobs And Growth

23 September 2015

Latrobe Valley locals will have the chance to shape Victoria’s renewable energy future at a public forum in Morwell tonight.

Minister for Energy & Resources Lily D’Ambrosio will meet local residents at Kernot Hall from 5.45pm to discuss the Andrews Labor Government’s recently released Renewable Energy Roadmap.

The Roadmap outlines initiatives to fast track the development of renewable energy projects in Victoria and was developed in partnership with consumer groups, environment groups and industry.

The Roadmap identifies four priority areas:

  • Transforming the wholesale electricity market toward renewable energy
  • Reducing barriers to continued development of distributed generation (solar and small scale wind power) and energy storage
  • Encouraging household and community development of renewable energy generation
  • Government support for renewable energy development

Community feedback from the forum will help shape the development of a Victorian Renewable Energy Action Plan, which will contain long term actions to attract Victoria’s share of renewable energy investment and jobs.

Written submissions are open until 30 September 2015.
