The pride of Coburg football, the National Premier League’s Moreland City are back better than ever thanks to the completion of a new female friendly pavilion at their Campbell Reserve home in Coburg.
Minister for Sport John Eren today joined club members to officially open the new pavilion, made possible thanks to a $1 million boost from the Andrews Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
With over 350,000 participants state-wide and millions of fans tuning in to the recent World Cup, football is more popular than ever, especially amongst women and girls.
The new female friendly pavilion features four female friendly change rooms, female friendly umpires change room, players race and first aid room.
Not only will Moreland City Football Club reap the benefits, but nearby schools and community groups will also have access to the new pavilion.
The project also includes refurbishment of the two football pitches including irrigation, drainage and resurfacing with warm season grass which is underway.
Across Victoria the Labor Government has invested more than $420 million in community sport and recreation facilities, and earlier this year provided almost half a billion dollars in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 to support sport and active recreation at all levels.
Mr Eren acknowledged Moreland City Council for its commitment and financial contribution to the project.
