More Outdoor Play Space For Students In Ferny Creek

15 June 2018

Students in Ferny Creek now have access to upgraded sporting facilities and sheltered play space, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education and Member for Monbulk James Merlino today visited Ferny Creek Primary School to open the new roof for the netball court as part of a $285,000 upgrade.

Ferny Creek Primary School previously had limited covered outdoor space, which made playing outdoor sport a challenge in poor weather. The new roof will create additional outdoor space and shelter for students so that they can stay active outdoors during hot and wet weather.

New lights, storage space and reversible netball and basketball poles will also be installed in the next month as part of the upgrades.

The Labor Government is working to strengthen community pride in schools and build sporting facilities for students.

It forms part of the Education State target of increasing the proportion of students taking part in physical activity five times a week.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
