More Free Parking For Bacchus Marsh Community

27 April 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is creating more free car parks in Bacchus Marsh with 100 new spaces to be delivered – creating more local jobs.

Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas today joined Member for Melton Steve McGhie at Bacchus Marsh’s Maddingley Park Reserve to announce that 100 free car parks would be built at the site - to respond to demand created by the fast-growing community.

The project is part of the Labor Government’s Regional Car Parks Fund, which is also creating car parks in the Latrobe Valley and Ballarat to take pressure off local streets in Victoria’s fastest growing regional cities.

The Bacchus Marsh site is the final location to be selected as part of our commitment to build 2000 car parks across regional Victoria, with the program creating more than 200 jobs during construction.

The project will upgrade and expand car parking around the Maddingley Park Reserve sports precinct to relieve parking pressure in the local area.

Additional and accessible car parking is a key priority for the Moorabool Shire Council with the area expected to grow by 25 per cent by 2031 from 36,000 to 48,000 people with most of the population residing in Bacchus Marsh.

The Regional Car Parks Fund is also supporting the creation of 1000 new carparking spaces in Ballarat, in areas around the CBD, the Health Precinct and central sporting precincts.

The 1000 new car parks for Ballarat are on top of the almost 1000 car park spaces the Government has already delivered as part of the Ballarat Station Precinct Redevelopment and Ballarat GovHub.

In the Latrobe Valley, more than 900 car parks are being delivered with sites selected in the key centres of Traralgon, Morwell and Moe, close to public transport, shopping precincts and community services.
