The Andrews Labor Government will provide $3 million towards a redevelopment of a rooming house and an expansion of the Hands on Health Clinic at Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda.
The new investment will provide low care accommodation for disadvantaged older people.
Sacred Heart Mission is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing support, care and housing services since 1982.
The organisation operates in St Kilda and surrounding Melbourne’s inner south-east region including women’s accommodation in Reservoir and Thomastown.
Known as Project 101, the site at Grey St, St Kilda will be redeveloped to provide appropriate and specialised accommodation as well as support services to the community who are experiencing age related conditions and who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
The plan to make sure Sacred Heart Mission continues to support some of our most vulnerable elderly residents will take up to 5 years as the rebuild progressively rolls out.
The new facility will offer a full range of services to support people who have complex health issues as they age.
