It gives me great pleasure to send my best wishes to the Hindu community in Victoria for this year’s Diwali Festival.
The Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important occasions for Hindu people here, and throughout the world. It is a time to celebrate with family, friends and community, and to highlight the Hindu values of compassion, selflessness, harmony, tolerance and respect - values that resonate with the whole Victorian community.
Our Hindu community is truly reflective of our multicultural and multifaith State, and we are very proud to be home to many thousands of people who follow the Hindu faith. I thank everyone for the enormous contribution to the prosperity, culture and lifestyle we enjoy.
On behalf of the Andrews Labor Government, I congratulate all organisers, volunteers and community members for the exciting festivities and celebrations we will share in.
