Making Victoria A Leader In New Energy Technologies

18 October 2016

The Andrews Labor Government is helping Victorian communities and businesses develop projects that create jobs and support clean energy.

Parliamentary Secretary for Industry and Employment Gabrielle Williams today announced the first groups benefitting from the Labor Government’s $20 million New Energy Jobs Fund grants.

Maroondah City Council is one of 19 local governments sharing in $764,000 to help fund a solar project for low income households.

Up to 900 solar PV projects will be installed for low income households across participating councils. The project will explore the best ways to overcome barriers to the uptake of renewable energy technologies in local areas.

It’s just one of 24 projects that are supporting growth in the uptake of renewable energy generation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, driving innovation in new energy technologies and decreasing the costs of distributed generation.

The New Energy Jobs Fund is part of our $200 million Future Industries Fund, which is helping support high growth, high value industries that are critical to securing Victoria’s future as a competitive and outward looking economy.
