Lying Malcolm Turnbull Is An April Fool On Energy

01 April 2017

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has once again shown he can't be trusted when it comes to national leadership on energy policy.

Addressing the State Liberal Conference in Melbourne, Malcolm Turnbull just couldn't help himself, blaming the Victorian Government for the closure of the privately owned Hazelwood power station.

This is in stark contrast to his public comments just eight days ago to 3AW radio presenter Neil Mitchell:

"The closure of Hazelwood is a decision of the owner, Engie. It’s a commercial decision that they have taken.” Neil Mitchell Program, 3AW, 24 March 2017.

Malcolm Turnbull either lied to Neil Mitchell and his listeners or he's lied to his Victorian Liberal colleagues.

Instead of trying to score cheap political points, he should join the Andrews Labor Government in supporting Hazelwood workers and the Latrobe Valley during this difficult time.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Energy, Environment, and Climate Change Lily D'Ambrosio

"Malcolm Turnbull is an April Fool who can't be trusted on energy policy.”

"A little over a week ago, the Prime Minister made clear that the closure of Hazelwood was a commercial decision taken by the private French company Engie."

"While Mr Turnbull tries to score cheap political points, we'll keep standing up for Hazelwood workers and the people of the Latrobe Valley."
