Listening And Delivering For Wimmera Southern Mallee

19 April 2018

People living and working in the Wimmera Southern Mallee are invited to register to attend this year’s Regional Assembly, to be held in Stawell on Wednesday 30 May.

The Regional Assemblies began in 2016 and are the cornerstone of the Labor Government’s year-round consultation with regional Victorians through its nine Regional Partnerships.

In 2017, more than 2,000 people attended Regional Assemblies – helping identify and refine their region’s priorities – including at the 2017 Assembly in Horsham.

This year’s Assembly will be a chance for residents, community organisations and businesses to hear what the Partnership has achieved to date, and help further shape its priorities.

The Assembly will include detailed discussions with the community on:

  • Regional planning – including planning for renewable energy opportunities, for roads and freight logistics, for public transport, water and natural resources, population, and future skills
  • Co-ordinated service delivery in the areas of health, education, and social and community services
  • School and post-secondary education
  • Renewable energy and energy security

Over the past 18 months, the Wimmera Southern Mallee Partnership has made a significant impact. Its voice – and the voice of others – led to a $45 million boost for digital initiatives across the state in last year’s Budget.

The Partnership is also currently pioneering trials in the region to reform how early years services are delivered in regional and rural areas.
