People living and working in the Ovens Murray region are invited to register for this year’s Regional Assembly in Wangaratta on 27 June.
The Regional Assemblies began in 2016 and are the cornerstone of the Andrews Labor Government’s year-round consultation with regional Victorians through its nine Regional Partnerships.
In 2017, more than 2,000 people attended Regional Assemblies, helping identify and refine their region’s priorities – including at the 2017 Assembly in Wodonga.
This year’s Assembly will be a chance for residents, community organisations and businesses to hear what the Partnership has achieved to date, and help further shape its priorities. Agriculture, digital innovation, renewable energy, early years and youth will all be on the agenda at this year’s Assembly.
The Labor Government has listened and responded in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 with $300,000 towards establishing the Wangaratta Digital Hub, $300,000 towards planning for the Wodonga Innovation Hub and $300,000 to develop the Hume Regional Renewable Energy Strategy.
The Budget also provides $2 million for the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing, which will support tourism – one of the region’s key economic sectors.
The past year has also seen major investments in the North East Rail Corridor and in the North East Cycling Optimisation Masterplan.
