Labor Government Supports Early Learning In Melton South

13 May 2015

Minister for Families and Children, Jenny Mikakos, today joined City of Melton Mayor Cr Sophie Ramsey and Member for Melton, Don Nardella, to open the Bridge Road Children’s and Community Centre in fast-growing Melton South.

The $6.7 million centre will cater to local families by offering services including occasional care, maternal and child health, breastfeeding support, parenting programs, playgroups, immunisations and a variety of community activities.

The Bridge Road Children’s and Community Centre provides 198 four-year-old kindergarten places and 123 three-year-old kindergarten places to meet demand in this fast-growing suburb.

The Andrews Labor Government is investing $50 million in the early childhood sector through the building and upgrading of kindergartens and children’s centres.

Infrastructure projects such as these ensure local children’s services have the space and flexibility they need to deliver 15 hours of kindergarten alongside a range of other vital early years programs.
