Kalianna Rebuilt From The Ground Up

05 May 2017

Students at Kalianna Special School and Carisbrook Primary School will finally get the first rate facilities they deserve thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Premier Daniel Andrews today joined Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards, Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan, and the school community to announce that Kalianna would receive $10 million towards the school rebuild and modernisation.

These funds from the Victorian Budget 2017/18 will be used to construct a new building, with existing facilities also modernised and upgraded. This will ensure local families are able to access a school equipped to deliver the very best education.

This funding builds on the $4.3 million given in last year’s budget to fund Stage 1 of the crucial project.

While in Central Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews also visited Carisbrook Primary School to announce that they would receive $2.4 million to modernise and upgrade their facilities. This builds on $230,000 recently granted from the School Pride and Sports Fund to refurbish the school’s gym.

The Budget invested $22.8 million in thirteen school upgrades across the Bendigo region. Schools being upgraded include Bealiba Primary, Baringhup Primary, Big Hill Primary, Carisbrook Primary, Castlemaine Primary, Castlemaine North Primary, Elphinstone Primary, Kalianna Special School, Lockwood Primary, Nanneella Estate Primary, Newstead Primary, Spring Gully Primary and Taradale Primary.

The Labor Government’s huge investment in Victoria’s schools means more than $2.5 billion has now been invested in school infrastructure across the state over the past three years.
