Introducing Vicky

29 May 2017

She’s big, she’s got heart and she’s coming to a town near you.

Victoria – or Vicky as she prefers to be called – is an interactive truck about to tour the state welcoming visitors and promoting our shared values and what it means to be Victorian.

When visitors step on board, they’ll get to share the experiences of new migrants through cutting-edge 3D virtual reality goggles, record their own video stories, grab showbags and learn more about Victoria’s proud multiculturalism.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Robin Scott officially unveiled Vicky at a launch event in Bendigo today, alongside Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan and Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards.

Vicky the Truck (although technically a semi-trailer) will embark on a statewide tour visiting significant cultural and sporting events, festivals and schools starting with her first event on 2 June in Melbourne’s north.

Her aim is to bring to life the values from the Victorian. And proud of it. campaign the Andrews Labor Government launched this year.

These are non-negotiable values every Victorian should live by – one law for all, freedom to be yourself, discrimination is never acceptable, a fair go for all and that it is up to all of us to contribute.

Vicky the Truck will act as a mobile learning hub, giant billboard and information station, appealing to both kids and adults.

She’ll also have her own Facebook and Instagram accounts so people can keep up to date with her tour dates.

Vicky is already scheduled to attend AFL games during the Multicultural Round in July and the Royal Melbourne Show starting September.
