Indonesian Trade Mission Takes Off Today

15 April 2015

An Andrews Labor Government supported trade mission to Indonesia’s largest international food show gets underway today.

More than 50 delegates from 37 Victorian companies will attend the three-day Food and Hotel Indonesia expo, giving them the opportunity to tap into the burgeoning Indonesian food and beverage market.

The expo will attract more than 25,000 visitors and 1300 companies from 45 countries.

As part of the trade mission to Indonesia, the Labor Government will undertake a month-long food promotion in collaboration with the ISMAYA Group – a leading food retail business in Indonesia with 65 outlets.

The promotion will showcase Victoria's premium food products in a menu designed by renowned Victorian chef, Ian Curley.

The trade mission builds on the Labor Government’s Victorian Invitation Program inbound mission in March last month which attracted 25 buyers from the Indonesian market. This demonstrates the potential growth in exports and investment that a complimentary, two-way approach to trade can deliver.

With a rapidly expanding middle-class driving opportunities in the food and beverage sector, Indonesia is Victoria’s third largest export market for agricultural products.
