Horsham North Hub Is On The Way

02 August 2017

Construction is well underway on the Horsham Integrated Children’s Hub, which will improve social, cultural and business linkages in Horsham North.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford toured the construction of the new hub today with representatives from Horsham City Rural Council.

The project is supporting 24 local jobs and is backed by a $2.6 million investment from the Andrews Labor Government, with the Federal Government contributing $900,000 and Horsham Rural City Council backing it with $896,000 towards the $4.396 million project.

The Children’s Hub will bring together a range of professionals, working together to deliver education, health and support services to children and their families. This integration of services is vitally important in maintaining engagement with vulnerable children and families in Horsham.

The new facility will be supported by an off-street car park, drop-off zone, pedestrian access paths, landscaping, play areas, with provision for a future community BBQ area and community garden.

The new hub’s integrated children’s centre will provide timely and accessible children’s and family services from a single site, including:

  • Four rooms for kindergarten services licenced for 93 children, including 4-year-old and 3-year-old kinder services
  • A new multipurpose space for playgroups, occasional care and community shared use

Once completed, the hub will deliver multiple social and environmental benefits including the use of the precinct by more than 3,000 locals annually by the fifth year of operations.

It will also inject an estimated $4.396 million into the local and regional economy, increasing economic outputs by $8.6 million.

Construction of the new hub was awarded to Locks Construction, a Horsham based company with extensive experience in large scale project development.
