Horsham City Oval Nets Upgrade

28 September 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring more netballers can hit the court in Western Victoria with a major upgrade in Horsham.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today joined Horsham Rural City Council Mayor Robyn Gulline to announce the Labor Government’s $800,000 investment from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund for new netball courts at Horsham City Oval.

The Oval is home to the Horsham Demons Football Netball Club and is a key venue for the Wimmera Football Netball League.

The Government’s funding boost will deliver two new courts complete with competition-grade lighting, while the pavilion will also be upgraded to have new player and umpire change rooms, accessible bathrooms, a social area and medical room.

The Victorian Budget 2022/23 is providing an additional $88 million to deliver new and improved community sports infrastructure and programs to increase participation in local sports clubs and organisations.

It is backed by the recent release of the Government’s Fair Access Policy Roadmap aimed at ensuring women and girls get equal access to community sport facilities across the state.

Minister Spence acknowledged Horsham Rural City Council for its contribution of more than $340,000 to the project, along with more than $1.8 million from the Federal Government.

The Government has invested more than $1.6 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014. For more info about the program including the latest grant recipients visit sport.vic.gov.auExternal Link .
