The Heyfield community will benefit from upgrades to the Heyfield Bowls Club and War Memorial Hall thanks to a funding boost from the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community Facility Fund.
Local Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced that the Andrews Labor Government was investing over $175,000 in both projects through the LVA Fund.
As part of this funding boost, the Heyfield Bowls Club has received $135,015 to fund extensive upgrades to the clubhouse, which will benefit up to 200 people who bowl every week, alongside other community groups who use the facilities.
The project includes installation of a solar panel system, reverse cycle air-conditioning, upgrades to the women’s toilet and the installation of an accessible toilet, replacements of the floor coverings, and construction of a new outdoor entertainment area.
The Heyfield War Memorial Hall has received $41,701 to improve sound in the hall by installing acoustic panels, covers and fabric to the walls, ceiling and stage areas.
The 60-year-old Memorial Hall is the largest performing and public gathering space in Heyfield and is an integral part of the community, but has been unable to attract many live music events due to its notoriously poor acoustic performance.
The project will help attract more live music events, theatre and cultural performances – benefiting people in Heyfield and bringing visitors to the town.
The Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community Facility Fund supports community-led initiatives and projects that help make the region a great place to live and work.
