Have Your Say On Early Childhood Education

26 August 2015

The Andrews Labor Government is asking all Victorians to have their say about the future of early childhood services.

As part of the Labor Government’s commitment to transforming early childhood health, development and learning in Victoria, Minister for Families and Children, Jenny Mikakos, will today join with Member for Geelong Christine Couzens, to launch the Early Education State Discussion paper and kick off a two-month consultation.

The Labor Government is making Victoria the Education State – and this begins with giving every child a strong start in life.

The dedication of Victoria’s early childhood educators and nurses makes our early years services strong. But we can do more to guarantee excellence for every child.

Key questions for the consultation include:

  • How do we engage more children in learning earlier?
  • How do we boost quality so that families can access excellent services regardless of where they live?
  • How can we make sure vulnerable and disadvantaged children have the same opportunities as others?
  • How can we better support parents as their children’s first educators?
  • How can we improve connections between services so that no child gets lost in the system, and it is easier for parents to navigate?

Consultation will seek the views of professionals, parents, caregivers, academics, experts and community groups.
