Harrybilt To Expand Jobs In Ballarat

15 March 2018

In another win for workers and business in Ballarat, the Andrews Labor Government is backing an expansion of HarryBilt Engineering and Welding Services to help increase its capacity and capability, and create local jobs.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford announced the expansion today, which will see Harrybilt separate the fabrication and assembly functions of its business, boosting production and enabling the local manufacturer to create new products such as light road and rail service vehicles.

HarryBilt currently employs 16 full-time-equivalent employees and the expansion will create eight new jobs in Ballarat.

Buliding the expanded HarryBilt facility is expected to create six months of construction employment using local contractors.

The $750,000 investment will have benefits right across the supply chain for jobs in Ballarat and the wider Grampians region.

The expansion at Wendouree includes a build and fit-out with manufacturing equipment, and the installation of management software technology.

Established in 1985, HarryBilt supplies steel work to major companies and local councils, and specialises in the design, development and manufacture of specialist equipment for Rail Infrastructure Networks across Australia.

The expansion will enable HarryBilt to take advantage of growing demand for rail infrastructure off the back of the Labor Government’s record investment in new lines, upgrades and maintenance across Victoria’s rail network.

The Labor Government is proud to support HarryBilt through the Regional Jobs Fund.
