Victorian not-for-profit organisations and local councils are encouraged to apply for a grant to host an event celebrating Children’s Week in October, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Early Childhood Ingrid Stitt called for eligible organisations to apply for a $1,000 grant to help host activities for children and their families to celebrate this year’s festivities between 22 to 30 October.
The grants will support free activities such as art exhibitions, outdoor or messy play activities, dance workshops, arts and crafts, musical and story-telling performances, drawing competitions and picnics.
This year’s theme ‘All Children have the right to a standard of living that supports their wellbeing and healthy development’ is based on Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
More than 18,000 Victorian children and families took part in Children’s Week in 2021, across 107 grant-funded events.
Making Victoria the Education State starts with the early years. That’s why, in an Australian-first, the Labor Government is investing almost $5 billion this decade to provide three-year-old children with access to 15 hours of a funded kindergarten program.
Three-year-old children across the state now have access to at least five hours of kindergarten delivered by a teacher. Services will then scale up their hours to reach the full 15-hour program by 2029.
