Grant Caps Off Manufacturing Jobs In Melbourne’s West

08 July 2016

West Footscray based manufacturer Guala Closures will invest in new state of the art equipment, create 12 new jobs and boost its exports thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan visited the facility – one of the world’s largest integrated screw cap factories – to announce a $166,000 boost for the manufacturer, who produces aluminium bottle caps for some of Australia’s leading beverage brands.

The funding will enable Guala Closures to purchase and install high value precision cameras, which will improve the quality of the company’s products and create new jobs.

The previous Liberal Government left Victoria in a jobs crisis with companies closing their doors and leaving their employees with absolutely nowhere to go.

In stark contrast, the Labor Government is creating jobs and supporting high growth industries that will help transition our economy towards an advanced manufacturing state.

The grant for Guala Closures is part of the Labor Government’s Future Industries Manufacturing Program and builds on recent announcements to support Victorian based manufacturers, including grants to:

  • Southern Cross Ceramics in Mulgrave to improve its manufacturing capabilities, create 15 new jobs and help transition 14 existing staff
  • C.E. Bartlett in Wendouree to help the company invest in new equipment, upskill 10 of its workers and boost its exports by more than $1.5 million
  • Medical Developments International in Scoresby to build a new facility, create 15 new jobs and increase its global exports by $50 million
  • Fitmycar in Ravenhall to purchase and install new equipment, create five new jobs and boost its exports by more than $1 million
