Guide Dogs Australia will be the official charity for the 2017 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and Major Events Danielle Green joined representatives from the Australian Grand Prix Corporation today in Albert Park to make the announcement.
Now in its 60th year, Guide Dogs Australia gives blind and vision impaired people the training and support they need to live independently.
The iconic charity has provided personalised support to more than 50,000 Victorians using a range of orientation and mobility services to help them live the way they want to.
Major events like the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix provide a unique platform for charities to promote their causes, raise funds and speak to a large audience.
It’s been 22 years since the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix returned to Melbourne, and we’re delighted to have fended off rivals to make sure the race stays in Victoria until 2023.
An interactive marquee at Albert Park will challenge and super charge the senses for fans, creating a unique opportunity for them to experience a world without vision.
Families and their kids will also get a chance to meet some gorgeous Guide Dog Australia puppies and learn more about how they are trained.
