Funding Boost To Honour And Support Our Veterans

The Andrews Labor Government is making sure veterans and their families get the support they need and their stories and sacrifice are remembered for future generations to come.

Minister for Veterans Shaun Leane today announced applications are open for three grant programs that will provide funding for building and facility upgrades, as well as support to the Victorian veteran community.

The Veterans Capital Works program provides up to $50,000 for projects that improve buildings and facilities fororganisations delivering vital services to veterans and their families. These projects may include works to ensure buildings are more energy efficient, modern and accessible.

Previous recipients include Oakleigh Carnegie RSL, which received more than $27,000 in 2021 to install new solar panels to help reduce their power bill.

The Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour program provides grants of up to $50,000 for projects that restore community war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour.

Nagambie RSL is among its previous recipients, receiving $14,000 in 2021 to add a new plaque and properly place another at a local memorial that had been abandoned for 50 years.

The Victoria Remembers Grant Program provides grants of up to $30,000 for projects that commemorate veterans’ service or educate Victorians about the contributions made by veterans.

Previous funding through the program has included exhibitions highlighting the stories of veterans, as well as commemorative services.

Applications for this program are assessed by the Victorian Veterans Council, an independent body that provides advice to the Government on issues affecting the Victorian veteran community.
