Boaters and visitors heading out on the water will be able to enjoy upgraded facilities at the popular Flagstaff Jetty on the Gippsland Lakes, which is home to some of the nation’s biggest and most beautiful inland waterways.
The upgraded jetty and maintenance dredging will improve access and safety for boaters well into the future and provide an economic boost to the area.
The $245,000 project has included replacing the approach and eastern inner arm of the jetty, more than 300 square metres of re-decking, lighting upgrades and maintenance dredging works around the jetty to improve vessel access.
The iconic Gippsland Lakes covers 420 square kilometres of waterways and the Flagstaff Jetty is one of the most popular destination jetties located in the Lakes Entrance area on the Gippsland Lakes.
The jetty provides recreational vessels a place to berth and access to Ninety Mile Beach and the Flagstaff heritage and entrance precinct.
This important project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government’s Boating Safety and Facilities Program and Gippsland Ports which carried out the jetty upgrade works and is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the jetty.
