Flagship Screen Industry Events Secured For Victoria

09 November 2016

Melbourne will be the home to two of Australia’s leading screen industry events for a further three years, strengthening Victoria’s position as the creative state.

The Andrews Labor Government has secured the Screen Forever conference to remain in Melbourne until 2019, while the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) will call Melbourne home through to 2020.

Both events bring together leading industry practitioners from Australia and around the world and provide opportunities for local producers, filmmakers and industry personnel to connect and do business.

Screen Forever is one of the largest screen industry conferences in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a major annual forum for producers, writers, directors and financers who create screen content for the domestic and international market.

Screen Forever 2016 commences next week, running 15 to 17 November 2016.

AIDC is the Asia-Pacific’s foremost event for documentary, specialist factual and unscripted entertainment. AIDC 2017 will be held in March at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image.

This announcement comes on the back of a strong year for the local screen industry, which saw 67 projects supported through Film Victoria contributing $173 million in production expenditure and more than 8,000 jobs to the Victorian economy.
