Thirty passionate teachers, principals and support staff from government schools across the state are in the running to win up to $220,000 worth of professional development prizes at the 2015 Victorian Education Excellence Awards.
Winners across nine categories will be announced during an awards evening at Melbourne’s Regent Plaza Ballroom on Friday 30 October 2015.
This year marks a new beginning for the awards, which recognise the outstanding achievements and practice of our teachers, principals and educators.
A dedicated, independent panel comprising world-renowned educational leaders and thinkers oversaw the judging process. Category winners will join a prestigious Roll of Honour and become ambassadors for future years’ awards.
The new Inclusive Education Award– one of nine categories in the new streamlined Awards - reflects the Andrews Labor Government’s commitment to make schools fairer and more inclusive for students with disabilities and special needs, announced in the Government’s Special Needs Plan.
Individual category winners will receive up to $20,000 for professional development, while team-based award winners will receive up to $25,000. Each category winner will go into running for the top gong: the Lindsay Thompson Award for Excellence in Education, which comes with a further $20,000.
