Festival Showcases Shepparton’s Creative Community

05 March 2015

The spotlight is shining on Shepparton’s creative community with the opening of the 2015 Shepparton Festival today by the Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley.

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the 2015 Shepparton Festival through Creative Victoria and Film Victoria.

The Festival will transform local landmarks and public spaces for a 17-day celebration of creativity across all art forms.

The program features Indigenous art events alongside multicultural dance, music and cultural celebrations, ranging from the annual Emerge at Twilight event, to dragon-boat races, French cabaret and an Italian-style tomato festa.

Also featured is the Shepparton Shorts Short Film Festival, one of the longest-running short film festivals in regional Australia. All events centre on the 2015 Festival theme, ‘Grown, Picked & Packed’.

Established in 1995 by a volunteer community group, Shepparton Festival has grown into a calendar event. It attracts tourists to the region and brings locals together to celebrate local arts and cultures in Shepparton.
