Farming Families The Focus Of Terang Cup

05 April 2017

Hardworking farming families will get the chance to put their feet up and enjoy an exciting day of racing and fashion at the Sungold Milk Terang Cup this Sunday, 9 April.

The Cup is the second race meeting in the Terang & District Racing Club’s ‘Farmers, Fashion, Food and Fun Days’ series, made possible with the help of a $51,378 joint funding initiative supported by the Andrews Labor Government.

The Cup is Terang’s premier race day and features a range of entertainment including Fashions on the Field, performances from local musicians, and a dedicated marquee enclosure showcasing regional food, wine and beer.

Racegoers can also pack a picnic and nab a spot in front of the winning post or get up close to the jockeys and horses in the mounting yard.

Children will be catered for with a range of arts and crafts activities, a jumping castle and a Mitavite Minion pony race.

The Farmers Day Out race meeting on 2 March attracted almost 600 racegoers and the club is expecting to draw even bigger crowds to the Cup.

The Labor Government has provided almost $15,000 to towards the race series through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program.

The events have also been made possible through an $18,000 contribution from the club, $10,000 from Country Racing Victoria and more than $8000 in volunteer time, donated equipment and a thoroughbred horse auction.

The racing industry in the Western District generates more than $100 million annually for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 980 full-time equivalent jobs in the region.
