Family Fun For Future Fishers

27 March 2015

Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford, will tonight release 50 catchable-size golden perch into Victoria Park Lake at the Twilight Fishing event to help grow recreational fishing in Victoria.

Twilight Fishing is an iconic annual event that encourages people from all ages to try fishing for the first time and learn more about this great pastime.

Fishing is a major recreational industry across Victoria, particularly in northern Victoria, with access to great rivers and lakes providing fantastic fishing opportunities all year round.

Through the Target One Million plan, the Andrews Labor Government will boost fish stocks, invest in fishing and boating facilities and increase the number of recreational fishers in Victoria to one million by 2020.

The Labor Government will continue to support this wonderful event by releasing 5,000 perch and 1,000 Murray cod fingerlings into Victoria Park Lake each year.
