Eligible apprentices, like Tori, can now have their cars registered at half price.

Tori was happy to tell us the difference this would make for her and so many other apprentices:

"I'm a first year apprentice in mechanical services - I mainly work on air conditioning.

I've met a lot of apprentices on the job, and finances are tight for all of us. We all find it really hard to juggle apprentice wages and living costs.

There's no way I could do my job without a car. I've been regularly commuting between my home in Melbourne and Frankston, and in the morning the trains don't run early enough for me to get to work on time.

Rego is a big expense, but it's something I can't do without. Half-price rego means I can use that extra money to buy the tools and equipment I need.

I know a lot of apprentices are really happy about this!"
