Draft Eaglehawk Station Precinct Master Plan Released

16 June 2016

The Draft Eaglehawk Station Precinct Master Plan has been released for community feedback, just weeks before the start of Bendigo Metro and extra services to Eaglehawk Station.

Member for Bendigo East and Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, joined Bendigo City Council today to unveil the draft Master Plan, which sets out a blueprint for future development of the station in Bendigo’s growing north-west.

The Master Plan outlines design, land use and infrastructure improvements for the precinct, and improved access between the station and surrounding areas with more car parking and better bus, walking, cycling connections.

The Master Plan has been developed by the City of Greater Bendigo, with the Andrews Labor Government contributing $30,000 as part of the Transport Investing in Regions initiative.

The Master Plan supports the Bendigo Integrated Transport and Land Use Strategy and the Eaglehawk Structure Plan.

The recent Victorian Budget 2016/17 allocates $15.8 million towards improvements to Bendigo and Eaglehawk Stations, and funds four extra off-peak services to Bendigo every week.

It also provides $280 million for 27 VLocity carriages and nearly $200 million to rebuild V/Line, as part of a $1.3 billion investment in better public transport across regional Victoria.

Feedback on the Master Plan can be provided online at bendigo.vic.gov.au and hard copies of the Plan are available at Bendigo City Council reception. The consultation period finishes at 5:00pm on Friday, 8 July 2016.
