Doors Open At New Healesville Ambulance Station

09 September 2016

Paramedics in Healesville now have the facilities they need to quickly respond to local medical emergencies with the opening of a state-of-the-art ambulance station.

Minister for Ambulance Services, Jill Hennessy, today officially opened the modern $1.2 million Healesville Ambulance Branch on Westmount Road.

The new purpose-built station gives hard working paramedics the larger and modern facilities they deserve, and room to grow into the future.

It features four ambulance bays, three rest rooms, modern amenities, training room, rest and recline facilities and a fully equipped kitchen.

A memorial garden at the new branch pays tribute to paramedics Robert Bland and Phillip Oakley who tragically died when their ambulance rolled on the Black Spur in 2004.

The Andrews Labor Government’s Victorian Budget 2016/17 delivered an extra $2.45 billion for health so hospitals can admit more patients, reduce waiting times, upgrade buildings and infrastructure, and keep Victorians healthy.

This includes $144 million to rebuild the ambulance system after four years of crisis and neglect under the former Liberal Government.

As part of this we are delivering our $60 million Ambulance Response Time Rescue Fund to provide faster responses and make sure our ambulances respond to the right patient, at the right time, with the right care.
