Delivering A Great Local School For Port Melbourne

15 August 2018

Port Melbourne Primary School will be completely transformed with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to finish a massive upgrade of this historic school.

Built in 1889, Port Melbourne Primary School holds a special place in the hearts of local residents but the Liberals didn’t spend a single cent on upgrades, leaving students and staff in crowded old classrooms with tired facilities.

The Labor Government has already delivered a $5.4 million upgrade to give students and staff at Port Melbourne Primary School the modern facilities they need to achieve their best.

This includes a new canteen, music and arts building, and new gym with an indoor basketball and netball court that the whole community can use and enjoy for weekend and evening sports.

There’s more to do and only Labor will finish the transformation of this historic local school.

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will invest a further $7.8 million to build state of the art new classrooms and administration facilities at Port Melbourne Primary School. This will finish the school’s massive upgrade, giving Port Melbourne families the world-class school their kids deserve.

The Labor Government has invested more than $3.8 billion to build 70 new schools and upgrade 1,300 schools across the state since coming to office in 2014.

That means thousands of Victorian kids now go to school every day and learn in new classrooms with better technology and facilities, like new gyms and science labs.

It’s also helped create 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians right around our state.

A re-elected Labor Government will keep delivering for Victorians with more new schools and upgrades to existing schools across the state.
