Delivering Better Aged Care In Bacchus Marsh

01 June 2022

More residents in Bacchus Marsh will get access to better public aged care thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Anthony Carbines today announced a further $3.75 million will be invested to expand the scope of the upgrade and modernisation of Grant Lodge.

This new investment builds on the $5.5 million delivered through the Labor Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund in 2021.

While the facility has served the community well, the expanded scope will now allow Western Health to redesign the site to ensure all residents have private bedrooms and bathrooms – improving amenity, privacy and dignity.

The major upgrade will provide an environment that is dementia friendly and better suited to supporting mental health and the complex care needs of older Victorians.

The facility will be designed to provide residents with a modern, safe and comfortable place to call home as well as a safe and efficient workplace for staff.

Grant Lodge Aged Care Facility is just one of the many projects the Labor Government is delivering in Melbourne’s west to ensure the community has greater access to clinical health expertise and options for care closer to home.

The Government has already delivered the Joan Kirner Women’s & Children’s Hospital and is now delivering the $1.5 billion new Footscray Hospital and the new Melton Hospital.

The Victorian Budget 2022/23 delivered $146 million to replace and refurbish public residential aged care facilities across Victoria, including at Camperdown, Mansfield and Orbost, as well as funding to plan for upgrades at facilities in Bright and Heywood.
